Colored optical fibers are placed into loose tubes made of high-modulus material, which are filled with thixotropic water-blocking fiber paste. At the center of the cable core is a non-metallic strength member (FRP). The loose tubes (and filler ropes) are stranded around the central strength member to form a circular cable core, with the gaps in the cable core and the space between the cable core and the steel tape filled with water-blocking cable paste. A layer of polyethylene inner sheath is extruded over the cable core, followed by longitudinal wrapping with double-sided plastic-coated steel tape, and finally extrusion of a polyethylene outer sheath to complete the cable formation.
