Colored optical fibers are placed into loose tubes made of high-modulus, hydrolysis-resistant material, and the loose tubes are filled with thixotropic water-blocking paste. At the center of the cable core is a non- metallic strength member (FRP), around which the loose tubes (and filler ropes) are stranded to form a compact and circular cable core. Both the loose tubes and the strength member are wrapped with water-blocking yarns. A water-blocking tape is longitudinally wrapped around the cable core, followed by a longitudinally wrapped plastic-coated aluminum tape, and finally a polyethylene sheath is extruded to form the cable.
