The multi-purpose branch optical cable uses single-core optical cables (900μm tight-buffered optical fibers with aramid strength members) as sub-units, with a non-metallic central strength member. The cable sub units are stranded around the central strength member to form the cable core. The outermost layer is extruded with a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) sheath. Sheaths made of low smoke zero halogen (LSZH) material can also be provided according to customer requirements.
